During this summer season PVA, in cooperation with partner organizations, launches its"Woda bez promili" ("Water with no alcohol") campaign, aiming at informing about dangers associated with swimming after alcohol consumption.
Drinking and swimming is the most common reason for drowning in Poland. Even small amounts of alcohol increase the danger of losing balance, having a thermal shock and losing strength. Additionally, alcohol seriously impairs the ability to recognize and assess danger. Swimming after drinking even one beer on a hot day may have tragic implications. That is why one of PVA's top priorities during the summer holidays is to warn against combining the two elements: water and alcohol.
The social campaign "Woda bez promili" is supported by three partners:
Posters informing about the dangers of drinking and swimming will be displayed in sea-side resorts and on lakes across the country. Tourists will also receive special leaflets about the consequences of drinking alcoholic beverages. An important part of the campaign is to encourage holidaymakers to take action when seeing intoxicated people getting into boats or jumping into water. Either drinking or swimming: there are no exceptions to this rule!
